This small, but dedicated group of leisure walkers have enjoyed some amazing walks this Summer. Avril (along with her husband, John) have sourced and pre-walked some incredible walks for us to enjoy on a Tuesday morning. These have included: the Caerphilly Hills, Penarth Park and cliff walk, Taff riverside walks – to/from the City Centre through Bute Park, around Castell Coch area, Forest Farm and even Cathays Cemetry. We never know how she manages it, but Avril always arranges a circular tour that includes a half way pit stop for lunch!
On Tuesday 21 October we weathered the strong winds and enjoyed a wonderful Autumnal walk around St Fagans - and a bit of reminiscing as we viewed some of the (much) more recent properties. Although we nearly got absorbed into groups of 6 year olds on school trips, we managed to make our way around and ended up in the Buttery Cafe for a delicious lunch of Welsh Cawl, Caerphilly Cheese and Homemade bread.
If you’d like to join us for a walk, a chat, a laugh and leisurely lunch whilst enjoying some amazing scenery and wildlife right on our doorstep, then please seek out Avril at either the main WI meeting or the Subgroup. We walk on Tuesdays, typically meeting at 10.30 am until 2.00 pm ish. Specialist clothing/boots are not required but sturdy shoes/trainers recommended in Winter.
